Weary and worn, Sam and Frodo draw near to the final fulfillment of the quest. Every step brings them closer to Mount Doom and into greater peril. As the sky becomes black and the land underfoot turns to ash, the weight upon Frodo grows ever more overwhelming. Always at his side is Sam, whose unswerving loyalty and conviction of heart binds him to Frodo in spite of the seeming impossibility of their task and the odds against their success. Sam's heart is a pure one. His love for his friends is true, and the commitment to his promise to Gandalf will not be broken.
