I had the pleasure of hanging out with a LEGEND in the toy industry. After the Toy Biz employee meetup, I traveled to Brooklyn, NY in order to meet an idol and tour his workshop. Dave Cortes sculpted many of our LOTR figures including Treebeard, Cave and Battle Troll, Orc Lieutenant, Dungeon Orc, King Eomer, Shagrat, Eowyn and many more. (I have a few secrets that were never produced that I will be posting eventually.)
Dave's Marvel catalog is endless and he's worked with nearly everyone. I was able to chat about each figure and what hes been up to, which will be found in the Interviews section of the site, when completed. Dave is a great guy and passionate about every project he takes on. I have many goodies to show the group. Until then, here are some pics I snapped to keep everyone busy.
This first pic that you see here is me holding the original Cave Troll sculpt!! This piece is one that got him work with Toy Biz/Marvel. He's very sentimental about it. I had to hold it and snap a pic!
