A striking variation exists with the Gandalf The White from the early assortment of The Two Towers. 

Gandalf The White figures found with Date Stamps of 2002 were initially painted in an off-white colour that did not accurately represent Gandalf The White from the packaging and the movie. 

This would result in a running change for this figure. 

This variation is easy to distingush when comparing both versions side by side. In fact it cannot go unnoticed.
