This figure was part of the Burger King promotional venture done for The Fellowship of the Ring.

 

It required 3 or 4 Proof of Purchase (POPs) and receipts to be mailed in. In return a Uruk-Hai with Helmet was sent in the mail packaged in a white mailer box. This Uruk-Hai uses the same Lurtz body found in the FOTR Green Twin Pack that included Boromir and Lurtz but uses a different head.

 

With the release of the DVD in August of 2002, the offer was again continued, only this time limited to 1 per household.

 

This promotion would be limited to a maximum of 5000 figures. Once this limit was reached, the initial Uruk-Hai offering was replaced with a Lurtz and no accessories.

 

For collectors, what makes this promotional offer so important is the helmet accessory that was included with the original Uruk-Hai. The Uruk-Hai’s of the first movie are prominently featured donning these, and army builders desperately seek these out. This helmet would never be released again as part of the future assortments making it a very sought-after accessory.
